The entire community gathers in order to help the owner of a small piece of land to plant and to later harvest rice or corn on his field. Guests will have the exclusive opportunity to mingle with the locals and experience one day in the life of a Panamanian farmer. At noon, enjoy a traditional Panamanian lunch, freshly prepared over the fire. Traditional planting and harvesting meeting is a very traditional way for Panamanians to show their spirit of community. Usually, the owners of small plots of land do not have the resources to buy our hire a mechanized planting or harvesting equipment, and the work of collecting the rice or corn from the fields would take too much time for a single family to do. So, the owner of the field invites the whole town and even neighboring communities to spend a day helping him with the planting or the harvesting process. Being a solidarity activity of the entire village, the traditional “saloma”music and dancing is also part of the rice harvesting meeting. The workday pay of all people who go to the junta is donated to the owner of the plot. This is done for free. However, the workers happily agree to this because they know that when the time comes for them to build a house, to plant or to harvest a field or a similar daunting task, the owner and the whole town will be there to help them too. Transportation can be arranged from and to your location for an additional price. A minimum of 4 visitors is required to do a tour. A minimum of 48 hours in advance is required to book a reservation.
